We all have secret places where we like to hide small trinkets and treasures, maybe under the bed or in a hidden drawer. Kids are especially good at picking hiding spots that are the hardest to find.
For one man in Ontario, Canada, it was inside his old TV where he decided to stash over $100,000 and important papers for safe keeping. It's quite the stealthy move: no one would suspect a television to be the treasure trove!
But the man forgot and gave it away to a friend. During the entire time the TV was not in his possession, he did not remember the unbelievable amount of money that had gone missing without his knowledge.
Then, it was time for that friend to throw away the old TV. It ended up in the hands of a worker at a recycling plant, and when he opened up the console, he was baffled by the find.
The honest worker didn't take the money. He alerted his manager about the large stacks of $50 bills inside a box, who then set off on a mission to find the owner of the lost cash.
It wasn't long before authorities tracked down the 68-year-old original owner of the TV, who was, of course, thankful that all the money and papers were returned to him. He says that in the 30 years since he gave it away, he hadn't remembered the secret stash!
The money was supposed to be the inheritance of several family members.
