Michael Jackson’s Post-Mortem Performance Shocked The World! How’d They Do It?

At the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, there was a performance by Michael Jackson – well, sort of.

Even though the legendary artist died in 2009, his hologram graced the stage alongside a five-piece band and 16 dancers at the Billboard music awards. Performing one of his new songs "Slave to the Rhythm," if you didn't know it was technology, you would swear you were actually watching the King of Pop sing and dance again!

I watched this entire video, and couldn't believe the way technology and live performers were able to interact. It was a seamless performance, something that made me both miss Michael Jackson and his talent, and also feel completely mystified by the advances in modern technology.

According to Billboard.com, this performance was the result of nearly half a year of planning, choreography and filming, not to mention the development of new technology. Producers did not see even a portion of the film until eight days before the broadcast. And the BBMA's producer himself said, "You were watching the magic of Michael Jackson just like you would have when he was performing."

What do you think? Does this amaze you the way it did me?
