A coffee shop in Japan is home to an unlikely pair of friends: an owl and kitten.
Video taken at the Hukulou Coffee shop shows the 5-year-old owl, Fuku-chan, hanging around with a 2-month-old Scottish fold kitten named Marimo. The two animals are seen playing together at the owl-themed cafe, proving that opposites surely do attract.
Sometimes, Fuku-chan and Marimo sit together peacefully, while other times they playfully nip at each other. (And just wait for the adorable moment at the 1:01 mark when they start play fighting in a tiny box!)
Photos shared on the company's Facebook page also show the two sneaking in a kiss.
This unique relationship is even harder to believe than that of the Jack Russell terrier and a miniature horse, as well as Biggie the duck and Occy the dog. Perhaps it has to do with the longtime assumption that birds and cats don't get along. Remember Sylvester and Tweety Bird?
Yet, the coffee shop owner Ritsuko Nagahara told Reuters that these two are best of friends.
Marimo was brought to the cafe to ease Fuku-chan's loneliness. Apparently, they were also paired together because they resembled each other.
"Now they are inseparable," he said.
