Pallets are essentially free. Used as storage holders in large warehouses, it's typical to find the wooden boards in Dumpsters or tossed out front of large factories.
Unfortunately, this useful wood often goes straight to the dump rather than being reused, recycled, or repurposed. Instead of letting this raw material go to waste, one savvy man named Steve Ramsey converted "one man's trash" into his treasure.
This project reminds me a lot of the super cool DIY pallet wine rack and the homemade cable spool dog/duck house.
Ramsay turned the pallets into shabby chic furniture and swears up and down that anyone can do it, too.
"Anyone with basic skills and a few tools can build this project in a weekend," he says. Don't be intimidated by the power tools. Heck, my mom uses a drill! I've even used table saws and soldering irons. With a quick tutorial, what seems intimidating is actually pretty simple once you face your fears and tackle it head on.
A couple of days for something that could last years ain't bad, especially when it's free. Watch what he makes in the video below.
Remember what's good for the environment (recycling) is usually good for you, too!
