Not many people have gone through what young Justin Miracle has had to experience. You could believe that his resiliency is a miracle in itself.
Miracle is a 32-year-old from Rockwood, Michigan, who is living with cerebral palsy.
He witnessed his parents' murder 18 years ago, staying with their bodies for two days until the killer turned himself in.
After his parents' deaths, the young man was taken in by his brother and sister-in-law, Lori, who love him dearly.
Then three years ago, he suffered a heart attack. The strain on his body left him wheelchair bound.
For his 32nd birthday, Lori invited people over for a get-together in his honor.
"No one showed up,” said Lori. “It was just so sad, you know.”
Lori then posted a picture on Facebook. The caption read "Nobody showed up but still had a happy birthday — love you buddy."
As upsetting as that was for her, she could not have expected the response her post received. A friend shared the picture to the Facebook group Downriver and Friends, and asked them to send Justin birthday cards. Hundreds obliged.
Jay Ray of Jay Ray's BBQ offered to have Justin and his family over for a free birthday dinner at the Brass Monkey Bar.
Due to Justin's condition, though, getting him out of the house was too difficult.
Still, the support continued. People began contacting Tittle Brother's Construction in Southgate, offering to pay for materials for a ramp to be built.
“Justin, we are on our way," said Greg Tittle. "We are going to put this ramp up. You are going to be able to get in and out of your house.”
“I am still shaking. It is amazing," Lori said. "I can’t believe there are so many good people out there.”
