Mom Keeps A Baby Photo Of Her Long-Lost Daughters, Then She Sees It On Facebook

Starla Medlock and Jeannie Toomey's lifelong search for their mother ended on Tuesday, January 3, at the Kansas City airport.

According to ABC News, the respectively 43- and 42-year-old sisters were born to a Thai mother and an American father in the Air Force whom she met while he was serving in Vietnam.

The couple married, but divorced after a few years. At that point their father, John Thompson, took custody of the daughters and brought them to the United States. The sisters have been searching for their mother ever since.

"We asked our dad a lot about our mom, and he never spoke ill of our mom to us," Starla explains to ABC News in the video below. "He just said that she couldn't speak English because she's full-blooded Thai, and he said she thought since we were American and he was in the military, he could take better care of us and provide us a better life than she could."

Years later, the sisters were still searching for their mother. Most recently, this involved posting a photo of themselves as young girls on Facebook.

On December 30, Starla received a message on Facebook from their mother's current husband. Once their identities were positively identified, their mother Lani and her husband flew to Kansas City so the family could reunite.
