A Pig And A Calico Cat Have The Cutest Interspecies Friendship Around

Did you know that pigs are smart, affectionate, and love being clean?

I sure didn’t, at least not until fairly recently. Pigs, as a species, have always suffered from a bit of a bad reputation.

In fact, they’ve been engaged in a full-on PR battle since what seems like the beginning of time. Pigs crop up in our idiom with expressions like “sweating like a pig” (hardly attractive), and are best known for wallowing in mud.

Fortunately, around the same time Charlotte’s Web came out, the tides seem to have turned for our porcine friends. Now tea-cup pigs, like this adorable escaped munchkin, are almost universally beloved.

Even better, pigs are starting to get some well-deserved recognition for their substantial smarts! They may not have quite the acumen of animal brainiacs like elephants and dolphins, but smarty-pigs like the chubby and adorable Moritz can even solve puzzles at the level of a human toddler.

Apparently, even cats are starting to warm up to them! Or rather, a specific cat named Leonardo diCatzio has warmed up to Moritz. Since cats are notorious for being aloof  witness this high-and-mighty feline taking a dog down a peg — it’s a substantial vote of confidence for pig kind, in my opinion.
