In 2014, a video showing an altercation at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport caused an uproar across the internet. Bystander and YouTube user Andrew Kennedy uploaded the video to YouTube, and it quickly went viral.
Here's what happened: An extremely troubled, unnamed man gets upset, starts a fight, and then gets taken down hard by a host of good Samaritans. Afterwards, Andrew interviews his brother as he provides his thoughts on what everyone at the gate had just witnessed. While that's all that Andrew can say for sure, what viewers saw was highly disturbing, to say the least.
An elderly man wore a pink shirt to the airport and was engaged by a cruel bully who goes into a nasty tirade full of homophobic and racist slurs. At first, the attack was verbal, but it escalated into a physical attack of kicking and punching. The bully had clearly been drinking, but of course that's no excuse whatsoever.
Luckily, it didn't take long for bystanders to take action. They rallied around the victim, brought down the bully and gave him what he deserved.
I couldn't help but notice how the mean man harassing someone because he's wearing a pink shirt was taken down by another man in a pink shirt. Poetic justice at its finest.
The Dallas Observer reported that the man was placed in holding within the airport and charged with being drunk in public and simple assault. If prosecutors charge him with a hate crime, the assault will be bumped up to a Class B misdemeanor, which he could go to jail for.
