An Elderly Man Tried To Cross The Street. What Happened Next Will Completely Warm Your Heart.

Police officer Tom Ondeckeris is getting a lot of attention after heartwarming photos of his random act of kindness were captured on camera.

After the Streetsboro Police Department in Ohio received several phone calls about a man in a motorized wheelchair trying to cross a busy intersection in town, officer Ondecker responded. After he found the man, the police officer learned that the older gentleman lived at a nearby care center about a half mile away. The officer decided to walk back with the man, carrying the groceries the man had purchased that afternoon.

The officer didn't realize until much later that one local resident, Ricky Haylett, followed them the entire way and made sure to document the heartwarming moment. Once the man in the wheelchair was safely home, Haylett drove Ondecker back to his police cruiser.

"Tom is a great example of what it really means to be a police officer," the Streetsboro Police Department wrote on their Facebook page.
