Just when you think you’ve heard it all, something will pop up in the news that will likely have you questioning humanity.
Most of us have either heard about or even experienced the phenomenon known as porch pirates, which refers to individuals who steal packages or mail from people’s porches, but this story from ABC7 News could quite possibly take the cake in terms of sheer creativity.
The news outlet reports and shows video surveillance footage of someone wearing a black trash bag over their person in Sacramento, California, as they proceed to take a package off someone’s porch. The thief’s identity is concealed as they slowly but surely shuffle their way up the package and scurry away with it.
According to ABC7 News, the homeowner’s name is Omar Munoz, and he moved into his North Sacramento home in early 2024 and was “stunned by what he saw on his surveillance system.”
Munoz told the news outlet that when he “saw the bag coming to [his] door,” he initially thought someone must be “messing” with him because it all seemed too strange to be real.

Munoz told the news outlet that at first he was “kind of angry” about the theft, but the item that was stolen wasn’t very expensive and in the end, he thought it was “kind of funny.”
