For parents with children who are born prematurely, not knowing what will life hold for these children and their health can be nerve-wracking. In the days after birth, while their son or daughter in the NICU, the world stops turning, in a way: all that matters is the good health of the sick little one.
The parents of 10-year-old Olivia know this feeling well: Olivia was born 3 months prematurely. At birth, she weighed 1 pound and 13 ounces, when babies are normally born between 5 and 10 pounds.
For 47 days, they hoped and prayed that she would pull through, and grow up to be big and strong.
Their prayers were answers! And now Olivia is a healthy girl with a big heart. After hearing what her family went through after her birth, she wanted to find a way to reassure the anxious parents of premature babies.
She returned to the hospital, but this time, it wasn't as a patient. Instead, she brought clothes and other goods and items these parents would have waited to buy, but are now scrambling to. She's doing her best to make life just a little easier for them!
Olivia's gesture is surely being met with praise: her family, friends, and community are proud of the young woman she is growing up to be.
