Pregnant, Elusive Dog Saved Just In The Nick Of Time

For months, animal control had been trying to capture a heavily pregnant stray dog named Bonnie. Independent Animal Rescue worked with the community to hang signs and flyers. Soon, Bonnie sightings were flooding in and food was left outside in places that would deter her from crossing the busy highway.

Incredibly, a local carpenter named Ryan revealed that he had befriended Bonnie but couldn't get close enough to capture her. Volunteers set up a comfy bed and feeding station outside his carpentry shop and waited. But Bonnie disappeared from her usual hiding place. Of course, there was much concern for Bonnie and her unborn pups โ€” somewhere out there in the freezing December cold. Three days later, a volunteer was searching the woods when she heard the sound of a barking dog.

Ryan dug through the underbrush and discovered Bonnie's puppies! She had given birth, and was trying her best to take care of her newborn babies. Ryan scooped up Bonnie and carried her in his arms back to his shop while another volunteer followed behind with her puppies.

IAR asked Ryan to keep the canine family in his shop for a week until they could secure a foster home. But Ryan couldn't offer Bonnie a temporary home… instead, he adopted her ๐Ÿ™‚
