Professor Helps Out Mom After Babysitter Cancels At The Last Minute

Marine veteran Katy Humphrey is a full-time mother, wife, and college student. Just a few hours before class, her babysitter cancelled. That's when the Marine in this mama bear came out. She was going to get what she had to do done at all costs. That meant taking her 4-moth-old daughter Millie to class with her.

"I had the Marine reaction, since I was in Marine Corps, I have to pull through somehow,” Katy told KWTX. "So I was thinking, ‘Well I hope I can balance both.'"

Katy came to class with her baby carrier, she took the first open seat, and hoped that Millie wouldn't disturb anyone. Then Millie began to get fussy. That's when her professor left her stunned. Dr. Darryn Willoughby went up to Katy and put little Millie in his big ole arms. He conducted an entire class, nearly an hour, with the baby in his arms. The reason? He wanted to make sure this hardworking mother felt comfortable.

"I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable because there was nothing to feel uncomfortable about,” he said. "Taking care of others in a time of need and when it is not a time of need, just loving and caring about others — that’s God's purpose."
