She Lays A Strip Of Dough On Thinly Sliced Apples, But In The End? Beautiful!

Mother's Day is only a week away, and it's the perfect time to thank mom for all she does for us. You may be thinking about bringing her flowers, but flowers that she can eat are sure to impress. What better way to show your mom how much you love her than with a beautiful homemade dessert — in the shape of a rose!

In this video by Cooking With Manuela, she takes apple slices and Puff Pastry and rolls them up to create a gorgeous little rose-shaped dessert. Using only five basic ingredients (plus two optional seasonings), it is easy to create your own edible artwork.

All you need is:

  • 1 frozen puff pastry sheet, thawed
  • 2 red delicious apples
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 Tbsp flour (to sprinkle the counter)
  • 3 Tbsp apricot preserves
  • Cinnamon (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for decorating (optional)

Manuela advises making sure the pastry is fully cooked on the inside before removing the roses from the oven. If, after 30 minutes, the apples on top look fully cooked, move the pan to a lower rack in the oven and wait another 10–15 minutes to avoid undercooking the Puff Pastry. If you prefer, you can simmer the apple slices in water over medium heat for a few minutes, making them slightly softer and easier to roll.

She shows us in just two-and-a-half minutes how to take something so simple and turn it into something simply fabulous! Perfect for any occasion, this dessert is going to be my new go-to when I need to impress.

If you love this rose-shaped dessert as much as I do, please SHARE this with all your friends on Facebook!
