Queen Elizabeth has reportedly recovered after a battle with COVID-19.
It was certainly a frightening diagnosis for the 95-year-old monarch, but after recovering at Windsor Castle, she is doing well. The Queen was diagnosed with COVID on February 20, giving the whole world quite the scare.
Now it seems she is well enough to attend to her duties, as well as spend time with several of her grandchildren. She did the latter over the weekend.
On Sunday, the Queen spent time with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. They gathered outside of Frogmore House, the Daily Mail reported. Princess Beatrice brought her 5-month-old daughter, Sienna, as well.
While Buckingham Palace hasn't publicly commented on the monarch's COVID-19 status, she's definitely on the mend. In addition to hanging out with her family, she also carried out two royal meetings on Tuesday. The virtual meetings were the first time she has been seen since her diagnosis.
On February 20, a spokesman for the palace said, "Buckingham Palace confirm that The Queen has today tested positive for Covid. Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week."
The statement concluded, "She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines."
Thankfully, the Queen has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, making her chances of serious illness or death far more unlikely. Still, at 95, it would have been even better if she had avoided the illness altogether. The Queen reportedly caught the virus after she was in contact with Prince Charles, who tested positive two days after seeing the Queen on February 8.
It has been reported that several other royal household members have also tested positive for COVID-19 since the Queen's positive test.
It's certainly been a stressful time for the Queen, considering the ongoing royal scandals in the press, the death of her husband, and then her diagnosis. It's all the more reason her speedy recovery is being seen as a much-needed turn for the better.
