We've shared videos with our hungry readers of people making a lot of cakes and other tasty treats before. We've seen rainbow cakes, heart-shaped cakes, and even watermelon cakes. The coolest creations, however, usually tend to be the ones that look really difficult to make, but are actually pretty simple from start to finish.
The below video, uploaded by popular YouTuber MyCupcakeAddiction, certainly fits into that category. The final result, an amazing rainbow checkerboard cake, looks like it would take hours and hours of work to assemble, but it's actually fairly simple to create if you follow along and take your time.
If you want to learn how to make this beautiful cake, all you have to do is follow along as MyCupcakeAddiction takes you through the process step by step until you've got a colorful surprise cake all for yourself (and your guests, of course).
The hardest part of this whole process is probably the precise cutting you'll need to do once you get through baking six different brightly colored one-inch cakes. Once you have those baked and cooled, then you just follow along as she shows you how to cut them all to the same size, trim off any brown edges, and use circle cutters to create concentric circles.
After that, it's really just assembling the cake, putting on the buttercream frosting, and making it super smooth. That's it! Much, much easier than it looks.
MyCupcakeAddiction prefers to leave her cake stark white on the outside so that it's a huge surprise when she cuts the first piece and reveals the rainbow checkerboard design on the inside, but that's really up to you.
