It's hard to believe that it has really been 15 years since we all watched as America was attacked by heartless terrorists on September 11th, 2001. Despite the evil attempt to break our spirit, we as citizens have only grown stronger and closer together in the aftermath.
That's exactly what Ray Stevens celebrates in his newest song shown below. Though he first became famous back in the 1960s and 70s for his sillier tunes like "The Streak" and "Gitarzan," his talents are clearly not limited to just making us laugh.
The heartfelt lyrics sing the praises of our country and those who fight every day to protect it, as well as vowing to do so himself. After all, waking up every morning with our right to freedom still intact is something we should all be proud of.
Stevens also makes sure to pay tribute to his faith and the constant level of strength it provides, something his fans have applauded him for since the release of the tune.
One commenter on his Facebook page admitted to getting goosebumps from the song and that its message is "greatly needed in our lives." Another complimented Stevens for giving all the proceeds of the sale to veterans in need.
By the end of the tune, Stevens' vocals are joined by a precious choir of children helping to send his inspiring message home. It's a stunning reminder of how important it is to continue this tradition with younger generations as they grow into our future leaders.
