When I've had a long and challenging day, my favorite way to relax is with a hot shower and an early bedtime.
I know I’m not alone in my strategy, because it’s the go-to move for moms everywhere, like this mom who knew exactly how send her twin babies into a giggle fit! But when it comes to nonhuman babies, baths are not always such a safe bet. While your dog may love rolling in muddy puddles, if he's anything like this scaredy-pup, bath time is another story entirely.
That’s why I was surprised to learn that some of the larger members of the animal kingdom absolutely adore the pampering involved in indulging in a nice bath. Of course, if that animal happens to be Reba the Asian elephant, a soak in a hot tub is pretty much out of the question.
Instead, Reba gets her very own paddle pool for splashing around. And that’s not even the best part: Even more than the pool, Reba’s favorite thing in the world is taking a firehose shower. As a general rule, elephants love to be clean, and zookeepers speculate that Reba likes the shower in particular because she gets a relaxing back massage from the water pressure.
