What She Builds Out Of Teabags And Some Tape? Unbelievable!!

Malaysian artist Red Hongyi is at it again. Known for creating art from unexpected and unusual items, she created her latest piece using 20,000 teabags!

In a time-lapse video, you can see how she created the giant, 3-D portrait. It portrays a barista making a sweet and frothy tea — popular in Malaysia — called teh tarik.

"I wanted to create an everyday Malaysian scene that reminds me of home," she posted on Facebook.

According to Hongyi, "The teabags were stained in 10 different shades of brown. The teabags were stained by steeping the bags in hot water – the lesser and hotter the water, the more they were stained — and the darker tones were stained with brown food dye. All these bags were stapled and attached onto tiles of wiremesh [sic], then hung off a wooden frame."

It took her two months to create the beautiful art piece, which she presented at the World Economic Forum.
