Meet the famed Red Panda acrobat Krystal Niu, who has been providing halftime entertainment to NBA fans for over 20 years.
Niu started training at the age of 7, which makes sense because of what a pro she is at pedaling her unicycle.
This daring acrobat’s performance consists of pedaling a seven-foot unicycle while balancing ceramic bowls on one foot. She later tosses those bowls atop her head, forming a tidy pile.
During one performance, she will usually be holding ceramic bowls with her arms, head, and foot.
Not only is it impressive to watch her perform, but it’s also nerve-racking to see what will happen, especially when she starts to pedal with just one food as she stacks a pile of bowls on top of her suspended foot.
Niu had taken a two-year break during the time of her father’s illness, but returned in Memphis for the Grizzlies’ home opener in October 28. She had endured two of the roughest years of her life, facing her father’s cancer diagnosis, while auditioning for America’s Got Talent and having her mom face health complications as well.
But since Niu’s return in 2015, she doesn’t plan on leaving anytime soon. Her acts are too good to go unperformed, and I’m sure all of her fans are happy to have her back.
