The United States is a sweet country to live in, so why not honor it with a tasty dessert?
Many Americans like to show their pride for our purple mountains majesty and amber waves of grain by flying flags, signing up for service, or dressing their pooch in our national colors. But for many of us, we like to express our patriotic enthusiasm by going all-out on the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, or Veterans Day — and what better way to do that than with a barbecue?
At these backyard gatherings we like to bust out all kinds of dishes with national flair, like hot dogs, watermelon, potato salad, hamburgers, fried chicken, and all kinds of apple pies, including these adorable mini apple pies you can make in Mason jars (which are also an American invention, by the way).
But what if you wanted to give the traditional U.S. dessert a new twist?
One that is just as patriotic, but takes way less time to prepare and requires no baking? Sounds like an American dream, right?
