This is one prank that's not really a prank at all. French funny man Remi Gaillard is famous for being well…kind of a jerk.
A true comedy martyr, he is willing to do some pretty questionable, or even nefarious, things to get a laugh. Messing with the police, though?
He's really going to need a good lawyer after this one. Or, in the famous words of Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman, "You don't need a criminal lawyer. You need a criminal-lawyer." Remi 'better call Saul' on this one, because no argument is really going to hold up in court.
"Judge, it was for a video!" "Your honor, the cop looked guilty, what else could I do?" "Your honor, it was civil disobedience." "Your honor, I'm a professional prankster. I was only doing my job!"
I'm guessing Remi's best option is, "Your honor, I'd like to plead the fifth." Hey, maybe the court system is different in France. Maybe messing with police officers is well within the scope of their freedom of speech charters? Europe is a wacky place, folks.
In all fairness, the guy has been doing this for over fifteen years. I'm sure Remi's got it all figured out.
