Newscasters see lots of happenings in their day-to-day. We can turn off the TV or the radio when we can't take any of the sad stuff, and we can change the station when we're not interested in the story. The journalists themselves, however? It's their job to get all of the news out there, at almost all hours of the day.
That being said, they end up in some pretty amazing situations. They get to meet local celebrities, and attend all sorts of interesting events. Sometimes, they might even end up saving a life on live television.
When you're a national news reporter, you'll always have a big story on your hands, but when you're in local news, you're going to end up covering some smaller stories. They're all interesting stories, but instead of attending a national debate, a local newscaster might end up in a local park, or in someone's home to report on an act of bravery.
When Rob Low, a reporter from Fox 4 Kansas City, headed over to the local high school, he had no idea what he was about to accomplish. While filming a promo spot for the live event, he decided to throw caution to the wind.
You can hear the girl off camera's shock after it happens. Low himself couldn't believe what his cameraman told him from behind the lens…
