Here at LittleThings we have seen our share of animal rescues, yet they never seem to get old or "boring." From the heroic rescues of domestic animals, to the daring and dangerous rescues of animals in the wild, there are always people who selflessly volunteer to help those who do not have their own voice or power to do so.
Animal rescues always make me feel good. Knowing that there are people who are willing to put themselves in danger to help out those in need means that helpless animals, like the orca in this video, get to live long and healthy lives.
Although all animal rescues are inspiring and amazing, this one outdoes many of the others simply because of the time involved.
New York City police showed their soft side when rescuing a cat from the train tracks, and a woman recently risked her life to save her dog from the jaws of an alligator, but neither heroic effort took as long as the rescue of the orca in this video.
After getting stuck on the shoreline when the tide fell, this orca was basically left for dead. She was propped up on the rocks with very little water until a dedicated rescue team came to her aid.
Keeping her wet with towels and buckets of water, this crew remained by her side for 8 hours before the tide finally rose again.
Their relief, and hers, is heard towards the end of the video, and it's a sound you won't soon forget.
The rescuers in this video truly are heroes in our eyes, and we're sure this orca thinks of them as her heroes too!
