In the area of Spokane, WA, winter can get pretty brutal. Both ground and water are frozen — making room for some animal mishaps.
Of course, we know better than to try walking on frozen-over lakes in case the ice is thin, but our animal friends sometimes don't. And that includes all kinds — our pets and wild animals alike! But when rescuers in Spokane got a call about an animal stuck in a frozen lake, they didn't think they would be saving the life of a 2-year-old bull moose.
The gigantic animal somehow found himself in the depths of the Loon Lake, with his head above water. The rescuers came up with a plan, and for two hours, worked together to save him.
They used all kinds of tools, like chainsaws, sledgehammers, and oars, but still had to make sure they didn't weaken the ice too much.
Meanwhile, the moose waited patiently for the right moment to emerge from the water — and with just enough encouragement, he did!
Watch the clip to see what finally got the massive creature out of harm's way.
