Family comes first, at least that's what they say.
One restaurant in Bakersfield, California, certainly follows this philosophy. Chef's Choice Noodle bar recently closed its doors for two weeks, as it does every year, to send their head chef home to Thailand.
Previous to his employment at this specific restaurant, the head chef hadn't been home to see his family for 15 long years. Can you imagine going that long without seeing your own flesh and blood? It must have been nearly unbearable.
Most restaurants would be hard-pressed to close business for two full weeks. It's a big risk, but it's one they were certainly willing to take.
It doesn't seem like this will have too much of an impact, though. The photo of the note on the door was posted to Reddit, and patrons seem even more eager to attend this restaurant now that they know how well the employees are treated.
You catch more flies with honey, as they say.

This is the note that's getting so much attention online.
It reads:
Our head chef is from Thailand and every year, we send him back to visit his family. Prior to coming to work at Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar, he had not seen his family for 15 years, but when he joined The Noodle Bar Family, we wanted him to have the opportunity to see his family on a more regular basis – so, we close the restaurant for two weeks every fall, in order for him to visit his family and recharge himself. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to having you visit us when he is back and refreshed on October 4th!
Sincerely,
The Management

And while there was one who simply can't go on without his drunken noodles...
Most are pretty sure that they'll make it two short weeks without their fix.
Thailand, being essentially all the way across the globe from California, isn't exactly a quick trip away.
While Bakersfield, California is this chef's new home, there's nothing like being near your flesh and blood.
The folks that run this restaurant really do have their priorities straight, don't you think?
Plus, the food looks so authentically delicious!
What do you think of this restaurant closing for 2 weeks?
