Actor and environmental advocate Robert Redford gave a passionate speech to the United Nations concerning the climate change problem our planet faces.
Redford was ripping apart anyone who denies climate change with powerful lines like, "Nothing less than the fate of our planet is hanging in the balance. And the imperative for action should not be more clear, so today we can no longer claim ignorance as an excuse for inaction."
His quote at 3:07 was stunningly powerful, it really puts things in perspective and shows us that the time for climate change denial is over. It's always great to see a celebrity using their clout for good, and the 78-year-old Hollywood legend's calm intensity during this speech really drives the point home.
He explains how bad the climate situation is getting in several different ways and styles. The evidence he presents is foreboding but truthful; people are dying due to the drought in India, and more wildfires in the Americas are being seen, along with the California drought.
What was once the breadbasket of the world could very well be turned into an inhospitable desert. And as Redford states, "only by acting now and standing together can we achieve the results we need in the time that we have left."
