Actor Robert Vaughn, best-known for his starring turn in The Man From U.N.C.L.E, passed away November 11, 2016, at age 83.
He was just shy of his 84th birthday; Vaughn was born November 22, 1932, to a family of professional actors in New York City. He was destined to follow in their footsteps.
Vaughn is remembered as a versatile actor, who spent more than sixty years in his profession.
He first made his name playing Napoleon Solo, the title character of the stylish 1960s spy series. As his profile in Hollywood grew, he went on to become a prolific star of stage, screen, and, most prominently, television. He appeared on the small screen often throughout his career, making an appearance on every program from The Dick Van Dyke Show to Law and Order: SVU.
In recent years, he was a key part of the cast of the long-running U.K. soap, Coronation Street. His last project is the recently released film, Gold Star, in which he plays the ailing father of a young music student.
He was diagnosed with acute leukemia earlier this year, and passed away shortly after.
In a statement to the press, his manager, Matthew Sullivan, said, "Mr. Vaughn passed away with his family around him."
He is survived by his wife, Linda, and their two children, a son, Cassidy, and a daughter, Caitlin.
