Man Finds Tattered Bible By The Highway, Then He’s Floored By The Name Scribbled In The Pages

Rodney Wright, a Kansas Department of Transportation worker, received a call to go pick up some trash by the side of U.S. Route 56, a normal task that's part of his job.

He wasn't aware of it yet, but Rodney was about to discover something mind-blowing within the garbage.

He drove up to the scene and saw a pile of papers lying around. He picked up the collection, noticing the scribbles that decorated each page. He had just picked up a bible that had served as a guest book for the owner's funeral.

Words and emotions from friends and family danced across each tattered page. Eventually, Rodney realized he knew just who the late owner of the bible was.

In the video below, posted on March 2, 2017, Rodney explains, "But I didn't put two and two together that it was my old friend, Mike's."

The bible belonged to Mike Thompson, a good friend of Rodney's who passed away in 2015. Mike's wife, Rhonda Thompson, brought his bible/funeral guest book to church with her every single weekend. When she was leaving church one day, she placed the bible on the top of her car, not realizing it was still above her as she drove away.

She was at a complete loss without the sweet memories of her husband until she heard that Rodney located the bible two days later.

Rodney gets chocked up talking about his friend Mike. "You know he was — he was somebody that was there for me in a time in my life when I really needed somebody to hold on to," he says. "But God was definitely the one who put me there to find it."

Rhonda agrees: "Explain this stuff to me then, because this feels like Jesus Christ to me. No matter what, God just kept bringing it back together."
