As audience members, we watch movies to have an escape from the humdrum of our daily routines. While our favorite stars are on screen making us laugh, cry, or jump out of our skin, every other care and worry in the world simply seems to disappear until the end credits roll. My favorite has always been a good old-fashioned romantic comedy. No matter how disappointing my own dating life can be, I know I can count on the characters in my favorite films to end with a happily ever after.
From classics like Gone With the Wind and Casablanca to today's modern films that sometimes bend genre in new and exciting ways, you can't go wrong with the warm and fuzzy feeling you get from seeing two characters fall madly in love. Of course, just like in real life, there are the occasional bumps in the road that our fictional friends have to work out before the big finish. But that's all part of the fun! And even if they do end more tragically than we would like, we are still moved by each emotional adventure.

I know it made me smile to see Billy Crystal twirl Meg Ryan around in the clip from When Harry Met Sally and watching Audrey Hepburn ride around Italy with Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday.
