The drive and motivation of dedicated athletes is absolutely fascinating. They can truly be an inspiration for all.
For example, it’s hard to forget the moment Derek Redmond finished the race at the 1988 Seoul Olympics despite tearing a hamstring. His bravery taught us to always preserve no matter the circumstance.
Others impress us with their commitment. Just look at how hard this young boy trained to fulfill his dream of becoming a player as great as Tiger Woods. The ending of that video proved that hard work really does pay off.
But sometimes athletes let their emotions get the best of them, like University of Oregon’s Tanguy Pepiot. He’s certainly gained a lot of attention, but not in a way anyone would hope for.
The runner was almost at the finish line as he motioned the crowd to cheer louder for him during the Pepsi Team Invitational in Eugene, OR.
Moments later, University of Washington’s Meron Simon crept up next to him and shocked the crowd. Pepiot's surprise couldn't be concealed.
“You see his face and you know, no one has to say anything. They don’t have to explain it to him,” the commentator says about Pepiot. “He’ll never make that mistake again.”
And, make sure to also pay attention to Simon’s incredible sportsmanship at the :19 mark.
