The Running Of The Bulls Turns Into A Fun Family Activity In Spain

My dad has always told me that he would love to participate in the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. It's been a dream of his since he was a young man. Being of Spanish heritage, and a very brave and kind of crazy soul he is, I could have pictured him doing it many years ago.

However, if he did it now, I'd really worry for him. He's not 30 years old anymore, and I'll leave it at that. Plus, it's dangerous for a person of any age! Thirteen people have died during or as a result of injuries sustained during the event in the past 100 years. Tradition says that the festival began somewhere in the 14th century.

While it's really incredibly important to respect cultural traditions, it's also worth thinking about the safety of the people and the animals involved. The bulls certainly aren't happy, and no one is going to be having fun if they're trampled by an angry bull.

Luckily, some folks have figured out a much safer alternative to this very dangerous tradition that folks of any age can be a part of. You can see a father and a son smiling and running down the cobblestone street, but there are no bulls in sight.

Well, kind of… I laughed out loud when I saw what was chasing these happy families! What a lovely, silly twist on tradition. I'd definitely be all right with my dad running in this version of the tradition.
