Whether it's furniture, clothes, decorations, or houses — I love old things. While some prefer their belongings to come right from a box, I like mine to have a little wear and tear.
Because of this, I love learning new ways to upcycle my old furniture. Why throw something away when a little spit-shine and a bit of imagination can make it brand new?
And thanks to the brilliant work of Grungy Galz blogger, Bridget, I now have a whole new way to give old pieces some new life.
This tutorial is not only genius; it's cheap, easy, and adorable, too! Who knew that some old scrapbook paper could make such a big difference?

When her boring old coffee table was in need of a little love, Bridget decided to get creative. In search of some rustic inspiration, she took to the internet.
When she saw this gorgeous photo of distressed, vintage wallpaper, she knew that's what she wanted. But the vintage wallpaper she found was either too expensive, or just too ugly.
That's when she had a brilliant idea: She could use old scrapbook paper to achieve the exact same effect! She whipped out her sander and collage glue, then got to work.
First, she laid out the scrapbook paper on the top of the table. She arranged it and cut it to size, mindful of the seams and the shapes of the pattern.
Next, she brushed the back of the paper with collage glue, then carefully placed it on the tabletop. Then, she applied another layer of glue on top. If there were any bubbles, she used her fingers to work them out from the center of the page.
After letting it all dry for a day, she went to work with her sander and 120 sand paper.
Bridget recommends really "going to town" with the sander! The more you sand it, the older and more rustic it will look.
To give it even more of a shabby-chic edge, sand the rest of the surfaces, too. Add a pretty handle if your table has a drawer.
And voila! What once was a bland little table is now a beautiful country piece. Throw on a doily, a candle, and a plate of cute cookies, and you're ready to go! Will you be giving this a try? Let us know in the comments below!
