This is not how Savannah saw her life going, but she is working through it the best she can. Her Chrisley Knows Best parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, are both serving time for fraud. Savannah is holding down the home front and taking care of her younger siblings.
On a recent episode of her podcast Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, she opened up about how her mom is doing in prison. Savannah admits it is harder for her mom than her dad. She thinks her mom is remaining strong for her family but possibly not sharing all of her fears.
“She's just staying busy," Savannah revealed. "You know, like, she's trying to do anything and everything, take classes, first at bat — everything known to man that she can do, she does. And you know my mom. Like, she walks in a room, if something needs to be done, she just starts doing it. And so she's trying to stay busy. Her health, she's trying to focus on that. I think she's trying to shield us from a lot of things. Because that's my mom. That's who she is."
Savannah visits one of her parents every weekend. She finds it difficult to choose between them. She compared it to "what having divorced parents feels like.” Todd's sentence is longer than Julie's.
Julie and Todd miss each other immensely. “They don't get to talk. Being together almost 30 years now — and not going a day without speaking — to now, going on four months is a lot,” Savannah stated.

To pass the time in prison, Julie has been writing letters. The letters reveal Julie’s day-to-day thoughts and activities. "It was just like her daily diary, just [a] journal. I'll eventually put them out [and let people] read them at some point to give people updates on kind of how they were doing and what was going through their minds," Savannah explained.
These letters were not easy for Savannah to read. "I mean, it was tough to see the accounts of her day and just things that she's scared of or nervous about or just all the thoughts that go through her mind. And not having my dad there with her. That's the biggest thing,” Savannah admitted.
