Scientists Create A ‘Second Skin’ To Hide Wrinkles… Without Surgery

Wrinkles and under-eye bags are not only the most dreaded of cosmetic issues, but they're also among the most common. While bags and wrinkles are both natural results of aging, most people wish they could get rid them, even if it means going under the knife. Now a new invention is going viral, and I must admit… I'm definitely intrigued.

Scientists have developed a material that can apparently tighten skin and smooth wrinkles on a short-term basis. It's called the "second skin," and after 10 years in the making, it's finally being tested and covered by the media. This invisible elastic film can be applied to the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and eye bags. According to the BBC, "Once applied, the formula dries to form a film that 'mimics the properties of youthful skin.'" The skin is currently intended mainly for cosmetic use — but in the future, it may also be beneficial in administering medications and an alternative to sun protection. How cool is that?!

In the video below, scientists put their invention to the test and see how well it locks in moisture and boosts skin elasticity. See if you can tell the difference between the real skin… and the second skin.
