Stacey Bertotti was stunned by her mother's confession. When Bertotti turned 21, her mother revealed that at one time, she was a single parent to a little boy.
During the mid-1960s, she decided to put her son up for adoption, fearing the social stigma of having a child out of wedlock. Later, she would marry and have Bertotti.
Although shocked by her mother's past, it almost made sense. It was as though Bertotti always knew he was out there.
“I always felt I had a brother. But I never knew," she said.
When Bertotti turned 25, she began looking for her brother. That search would continue for the next 23 years. For over two decades, she tried to find her big brother with no leads until the moment she found him living in Atlanta, GA.
For the first time ever, Bertotti is meeting her sibling, Mike Ellington, at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.
“I'm shaking right now, because it is getting really close,” she said as she waited for the moment. Bertotti and her family members held up a sign for him, but as soon as she saw her brother, she cast it away, then ran to him.
The two embraced in a long hug and instantly began sharing photos of the childhood they didn't get to spend together.
