One day, Jamie Bakenhaster heard her 3-year-old daughter, Brittany, gurgling, choking, and struggling to breathe. The mother understood these symptoms immediately. Brittany was having a grand mal seizure. Bakenhaster struggled with epilepsy but had always had it under control. She believed that with the same medication, Brittany would be fine. Unfortunately, the medicine didn't work.
Brittany's condition worsened. The seizures came hard and more frequently. She required 24-hour care. Brittany could barely move and eventually lost the ability to speak. Over the next two years, her struggle would continue. When she was hospitalized for nearly three weeks, doctors prepared Bakenhaster for her daughter's death.
“They just said let her go home where she’ll be more peaceful in her own bed. I knew she was close to death. But I thought, ‘Lord, you said you would bring it to pass,'” Bakenhaster said.
She prayed by Brittany's bedside. But the next morning, a miracle happened. Brittany began to speak. She uttered, "Jesus" from her small lips. She said she saw angels. When the mother went back to the doctor, Brittany was healed. But then, something else happened. Bakenhaster began to have headaches whenever she took her own medication. Was her condition worsening? Quite the opposite. Bakenhaster's epilepsy had completely gone away.
Decades later, Brittany and her mother are completely seizure-free. Their only explanation for the recovery is proof of a higher power. What do you think?
