When Buddy's owner suddenly passed away, the 14-year-old dog was left devastated. What's even worse, the Labrador mix was also diagnosed with terminal cancer.
But thankfully, Loren Cazan, a volunteer at A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue in Michigan, stepped in to bring some cheer back into Buddy's life.
"We’re not sure how much longer he has left. But we just want to make sure that, whatever time that is, he has the best life possible," she told Michigan's WILX.
In turn, she created a bucket list for Buddy so that he could spend the last days of his life doing all the things dogs love.
It's a heartwarming gesture we've seen people do for man's best friends times before, including the unforgettable time a sick senior dachshund was taken in by a foster mom who gave her the best time of her life.
And, as you'll see below, that's not all Cazan did for this wonderful pooch in need!
There was no way animal rescue volunteer Loren Cazan was letting Buddy's last moments in life be anything but happy.
“He was kind of left with nowhere to go,” she told WILX. “I saw his picture and I couldn’t say no to that sweet face.”
She took him under her wing and allowed him to live out an exciting bucket list.
That includes eating some McDonald's, going to Dairy Queen, hanging out with new animal friends, and even become an honorary firehouse dog.
But, her good deed didn't stop there: she even adopted the senior dog!
"What started as kind of as a little thing has turned now into a really big thing," Cazan said. "We're just having so much fun with it and using it as kind of a platform to educate people about rescue, specifically senior rescue, and how much joy that they can bring to your life."
