Being a teacher isn't glamorous. It isn't fancy. Sometimes, it hardly pays the bills. But teachers will tell you they were born to do it, and it's in their blood. Ms. Flexer was born to teach.
For the last 41 years, Ms. Flexer has been inspiring, delighting and encouraging her elementary students. Year after year, students move past her class and into the next grade with her as their new favorite teacher of all time. Here, on Ms. Flexer's final day as a teacher, her students past and present gather for a huge surprise — and her reaction, and what they have to say to her, brought tears to my eyes. Each student has a different story to tell, each one more brilliant than the last.
