They may be small, but Shetland ponies are no joke. These spunky little fur balls have more personality than many animals twice their size, and they aren't afraid to show it. When a group of them went head-to-head for a pony race, no one expected much. But when it was time to run, these tiny ponies proved that they can gallop just as well as any thoroughbred!
I've spent my whole life around horses, but even I have to admit that I was shocked by how fast these Shetland ponies ran! I knew they could be cute, and they proved it when they wore these adorable pony-sized sweaters, but I never would have expected them to move their legs so fast. The last time I saw ponies this speedy was when these two chased a wild boar right out of their field! I can't even imagine how many strides they must have taken from start to finish — their itty bitty legs look like a furry blur!
I don't know about you, but I'd much prefer to watch Shetland pony races over the Kentucky Derby any day. Both the ponies and the kids on their backs look like they're having a lot of fun! I've known so many ponies that love to prove how fast they can go, and plenty more horse-loving kids that love to race. With the right safety precautions, you could make the cutest mini-Triple Crown ever!
