Ohio State Trooper Saves Truck Driver’s Life In Shocking Dash Cam Video

An Ohio State Highway Patrol Officer is being hailed a hero after saving a truck driver's life after the semi-truck crashed into an embankment near Piqua, Ohio. The chilling and powerful scene was captured on dash cam video, as trooper Eric Devers tries to give CPR to the unconscious driver.

"Keep breathing," Devers says on the recording as he counts out chest compressions.

"Don't you die. Don’t you die on me. Come on," he shouts to John Depue after his truck careened off the highway and down a 60-foot embankment.

"Trooper Devers found the driver belted in the driver’s seat, taking low, gasping breaths with eyelids half closed," stated a Facebook post from Ohio State Highway Patrol Facebook page. "After a short amount of time, the driver's eyes rolled back into his head; he slumped over and quit breathing."

Devers was on the scene for 12 minutes prior to medical personnel arriving. The driver began breathing on his own and stabilized. He was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital and made a full recovery.

"In speaking with the family, medical personnel and witnesses at the scene, it is apparent the quick actions of Trooper Devers helped save the driver’s life," OSHP wrote.

Devers of the Piqua Post received a Certificate of Recognition for his actions while responding to the crash.
