Sidewalk chalk drawings made by someone with amazing artistic skill are cool enough by themselves, but add in the fact that the subject is one of pop culture's most iconic families and the coolness factor goes way up. Capturing the whole process in a time lapse video? That's just the icing on the cake.
When Scott Moore decided to spend a few hours drawing The Simpsons on his driveway in sidewalk chalk, he thought ahead by setting up a camera to capture his every move during the process. The result is a nearly eight-minute-long time lapse video of his creation that includes outlining, coloring, and shading the whole piece. We even get a few glimpses of Moore's kiddo walking in and out of the frame.
If you don't already know, The Simpsons is currently the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running animated show, and even spawned a feature-length film in 2007. It has broadcast nearly 600 episodes over 26 seasons, and it doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. The Simpsons family sitting on their couch (like Moore draws in his video) is one of the most iconic images in pop culture history.
How cool to see a talented artist like Moore take the time to create the image in sidewalk chalk and film it for everyone to see. We love this stuff!
