As part of a weekend "hashtag" project on Instagram, Swiss photographer Tiziana Vergari posted a strange yet compelling photo on her personal profile. Now, her one simple photo is causing quite the online stir. The photo shows a line of girls sitting in a Zara clothing store in Switzerland — but because of the mirror's reflection, people are torn as to just how many girls are actually sitting there. It's a case of reality vs. reflection.
Since posting the head-scratching illusion to her Instagram page, Tiziana's photo has been shared over 13,000 times in just one week! Thousands of commenters are locked in a debate as to the number of girls in the photo, which range from two to 13. Some believe the photo shows twins, other says triplets and there are even those who say it's a picture of quadruplets.
Those who claim there are four girls say the reflection begins after the first four girls on the left. Those who claim there are three girls say the girl on the far left is staring at herself in the mirror, while the two on the right next to her are looking at each other. And those who claim two girls say each girl has a mirror on the side of them, which makes a replica of the mirrors, creating multiple images of the girls.
