Fiance Drops Engagement Ring During Skydiving Proposal. Moments Later, He’s Happy It’s Gone

Diamond rings are definitely not objects to play around with. Not only do they have a value of, well, as much as you would expect a diamond to cost (aka a lot of money), but they often have emotional importance attached to them that you don't want to mess with — both for the giver and the receiver of the prized possession.

Take this woman, for example, who was giving a homeless person spare change when her engagement ring dropped right into his cup without realizing it!

And we've all heard the horror stories where the diamond falls out of its setting and sneaks right down the drain of the sink or shower. For something that's usually always worn on our finger, so many unfortunate scenarios can play out if we're not careful enough!

On July 7, 2014, firefighter Brandon Strohbehn and his girlfriend, Nicole Nepomuceno, made arrangements to go skydiving in Oceanside, California. As part of the adventure, Brandon had a surprise up his sleeve to reveal during the leap of faith they were about to take.

Brandon and Nicole jumped out of the plane, strapped together and facing each other, and Brandon said, "I love you, more than anything…"

Then, he revealed what he had clamped between his two hands: a white box with a ring inside. Brandon then continued, "And I want to show you this."

Nicole let out a scream.

But the moment quickly turned from romantic shock to horror when the box slipped out of Brandon's fingers and went flying out of his grasp.

However, just when it seemed like all hope was lost, Brandon and Nicole reached the ground — where the real surprise was waiting.
