A small plane made an emergency landing on Cedar Beach in New York on Wednesday, May 1. The plane, a single-engine Cessna 152, landed safely on the beach at about 7:30 p.m. and both people in the plane were uninjured, reported WABC. This is the second time that the aircraft had to make an emergency landing in the past eight years, according to the New York Post.
The incident is under investigation, and it's unclear where the pilot, 60, and the passenger, 59, were going.
The pilot told WABC that the emergency landing was the result of engine failure. No one on the beach was harmed by the emergency landing, according to the outlet.
A similar incident occurred in 2016 when the Cessna 152 landed at Long Island's Sunken Meadow State Park because of engine issues, reported CBS2 at the time.
Two people were in the plane when the incident occurred — a pilot and a student learning how to fly. The pilot had been flying for 35 years, and he had never experienced this issue before.
