Wearing Socks To Bed Supposedly Makes Your Sex Life More Pleasurable

Hear us out: We know that socks in bed is a polarizing topic.

In terms of divisive opinions, it's right up there with vanilla versus chocolate, cat person versus dog person, and, of course, pulling the toilet paper roll from the top or the bottom.

However, of all trivial things to argue about, wearing socks to bed creates a surprising debate. In reality, how you sleep shouldn't really matter to anyone but you and maybe your partner. As long as no one snores, everything should be OK.

Still, that doesn't stop people from having extremely strong opinions about socks in the bedroom.

Although wearing socks to bed might be considered weird, there are actually a lot of compelling reasons to consider sliding on a pair before hitting the hay. Most notably, it might help spice up your sex life — and not because socks are such sexy lingerie.

But socks in bed also have a ton of additional awesome benefits.

Socks in bed may not be the world's biggest turn-on, but there could be a compelling reason to keep them on when you're getting busy.

According to Dr. Elizabeth Trattner A.P. DOM, keeping your feet warm greatly increases the likelihood of climaxing for women because they will be less tense.

She explains, "Cold impedes the flow of energy, and heat or warmth encourages it. If you think about a warm bath, you relax, and in cold water, you tense up. Cold creates stagnation, which can also lead to pain."

BBC even reports that wearing socks during sex could increase a woman's chance of orgasm by 30%.

If you like to fall asleep as quickly as possible once you go to bed, then socks are definitely the way to go.

Insider reports that keeping our extremities warm is one way to signal to our brains that it's bedtime. People who wear socks might be able to fall asleep up to 15 minutes faster than those who don't.

This is why the wives' tale about having a hot water bottle at the end of the bed probably exists.

While heating up your feet might help you sleep, cold feet might actually be inhibiting it.

According to Healthline, warm feet help to circulate blood more easily, which helps you relax as you get your beauty sleep.

Another reason why wearing socks to bed is a good idea depends on whether you have dry feet. If yours look anything like this, you might want to consider wearing socks to bed.

When you have a blister, you make sure to wear socks as little as possible to dry it out. However, with cracked skin like this, any moisture will help to heal the cracked skin.

Interestingly, it also turns out that there is science to back the idea that sleeping with one foot in and out of the covers has real benefits.

Natalie Dautovitch, a professor of chronopsychology, tells Sleep Junkies:

[Your feet] contain specialized vascular structures that help with heat loss. Specifically, the hands and feet contain blood vessels called the arteriovenous anastomoses, which — coupled with the lack of hair on the bottoms of your feet — are perfectly designed to help dissipate body heat.

This may not have much to do with socks, but it could give you something to do with all those odd ones you have lying around.

To state the obvious, feet can be both sweaty and dirty — neither of which are things you want inside your bed.

An easy way to ensure that your sheets stay nice and clean is to just wear socks to bed.
