After being deployed for seven months in Afghanistan, Private First Class Jamie Polston wanted to surprise his wife and newborn son with his homecoming.
Some of the couple’s friends and family helped plan an epic surprise at a local South Carolina Walmart.
They tricked his wife Skyler into believing she was simply at the store to get a birthday gift. And, once she was in the store, Polston secretly snuck around to make sure she didn’t see him before he popped up to surprise her.
Just like the time a soldier son completely shocked his mom when he returned home, Skyler wasn't expecting to see her husband so soon. She broke down in tears.
"I was under the impression that I was coming here to pick up a necklace. But not only did I just get a necklace, I got my husband," she told South Carolina's WPDE ABC15.
The reunion also marked the first time Polston would meet his newborn baby, making the homecoming even more special. The baby was only 4 weeks old at the time.
"It's really something you can't explain. It's a good warm feeling inside knowing they are finally together," Skyler said.
