Soldier Returns Home And Surprises His Kids At School

After spending seven months on naval deployment in Japan, it was finally time for Chief Petty Officer Rodriguez to return home. This had been his eighth deployment, and he decided to make this homecoming extra special by surprising his three children.

Still dressed in uniform, he made his surprise visits. The first stop was to his 10- and 7-year-old sons’ elementary school, where he was able to surprise both of them. Next, he went on to his daughter’s high school, where he left her in awe at a school assembly in the gym.

"It was surreal," Chief Petty Officer Rodriguez tells WSB-TV. "I never thought this day would come."

Next stop? Disney World, of course! Chief Petty Officer Rodriguez is looking forward to taking his family there for a much-deserved vacation. With the family back together again, it will truly be the happiest place on earth.

Military homecomings usually provoke emotional responses, especially when they are surprises. This soldier returning from Iraq gave his son a huge surprise when he showed up at his elementary school after returning home two weeks earlier than expected. Another soldier’s homecoming was only a day early, but his wife got the happiest surprise when she walked in the house to find him. And this one is no different!
