To many families, there's nothing that could make a parent or child more proud than having a loved one serve in the military. It is possibly one of the most meaningful and dedicated acts of patriotism. Although it's considered a huge sacrifice, it's also a huge honor.
This sacrifice isn't lost on second-grader Caden. His father is in the military, and they hadn't seen one another since the boy started the first grade. That's certainly a long time!
So when the little boy was called up to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the school assembly, it was a special moment for him.
Why? Because just moments before, his father, Sergeant Jason Chin, showed up, surprising him as the assembly's special guest! Together, they recited it for everyone.
The little boy was beyond excited to see his dad again. But the homecoming was also a huge surprise for his mom, who was shocked when her husband suddenly walked in to visit her at work.
Hopefully, the whole family will have some time to spend together. What an awesome way for Caden's new school year to start off on the right foot.
