The girlfriend of a college football star who died last month just announced her pregnancy.
Kelly Kay, who was dating Oregon football player Spencer Webb at the time of his death, just revealed she's expecting. The athlete died a little more than a month ago in a horrific rock sliding accident.
The model made the announcement on Instagram. In a post, she shared a picture of herself holding a sign while looking up toward the sky. The sign reads, "Coming Soon Baby Webb," along with a sonogram image.
In the caption, Kelly revealed her complicated emotions around the pregnancy. "We created an angel before heaven gained one ," she captioned the post. "All you ever wanted was to be a father…I know you'll be the best one from up above."
She continued, "Can't believe I have to do it without you but knowing I'll have a piece of you keeps me going. I can't wait to meet the person that's half you, half me. I love you forever, both of you ♾ @spider_."
Spencer Webb died on July 13, just a little more than a month before his girlfriend made the announcement. The tight end was 22 years old when he was killed in a rock sliding accident at Triangle Lake. According to the Lane County Sheriff's Office, Webb fell about 100 yards and hit his head.
Webb's coach, Dan Lanning, posted a tribute to the late player shortly after his death. "So full of life in every moment of the day," he wrote on Twitter. "Your smile and energy will be missed Spencer. I love you!"
The late player's girlfriend also mourned his death on Instagram last month. The day after his death, she posted an emotional post. "My best friend my twin flame the love of my life," she wrote. "I’ve never loved anything as much as i love you."
"We had so many big plans," she wrote, in a line that seems almost foreshadowing now. "I don’t know where to go from here but I know you’ll be watching over me keeping me strong.
"You always put everybody else before yourself and I'll try to hold the same kindness in my heart ❤️ ."
